DETAILS
Grown at 1,840 meters above sea level in the misty mountains of Caicedonia, Valle del Cauca, Oso Frontino Coffee is more than a specialty coffee—it's a celebration of biodiversity, conservation, and Colombian heritage. This unique 500g whole bean offering comes from Finca Santa Elena, located in the heart of a protected sub-Andean forest reserve, where the environment and its species are as carefully nurtured as the coffee itself.
This coffee is cultivated under the shade of native trees in a highly biodiverse ecosystem that preserves over 8.6 hectares of forest. Home to endangered species such as the emerald glass frog, kinkajou, and laughing falcon, the Santa Elena property is in the process of becoming an officially recognized Natural Reserve of the Civil Society (RNSC). Managed by the Reserve Natural Oso Frontino and operated by passionate local farmers, every step of cultivation follows sustainable practices that protect water sources, native flora, and the habitat of the elusive spectacled bear (Oso de anteojos), the emblem of the reserve.
The beans used in Oso Frontino Coffee are of the Tabi variety, prized for its resistance to disease and capacity to produce complex, clean flavors. They are grown in volcanic soil and harvested with great care to preserve their natural sweetness and aromatic intensity. The medium roast strikes a perfect balance—bringing out depth and character while preserving the coffee’s delicate notes.
